North Channel Wind Celebrates Launch of WISTA in Northern Ireland

North Channel Wind’s Fiona Stevens attended the formal launch this week of the Northern Ireland branch of WISTA UK (Women’s International Shipping Trade Association), held jointly with Northern Ireland Maritime & Offshore (NIMO) at the beautiful Belfast Harbour Commissioners Office.

The theme was Accelerating Action for women in the maritime sector, and the audience heard from a powerhouse line up of speakers, who shared some fascinating, and very honest insights into their roles, including maritime lawyer and WISTA UK secretary Gina Panayiotou, Chair of Belfast Harbour Commissioners Theresa Donaldson, MCA CEO Virginia McVea, maritime lawyer Alex McCooke and ESB Safety Manager Majella Darcy.

The event was organised, MC’d and closed by some of NIMO’s own powerhouse women, including Kerry Muldoon, Sam McCloskey and Joanne Moody.

It was great to see so many people in attendance, catch up with colleagues and make new connections. We look forward to the positive impact WISTA will bring!
