Floating wind turbines: the next generation of renewables technologies takes Northern Ireland closer to self-sufficiency.
North Channel Wind is a prospective floating offshore wind farm in the North Channel of the Irish Sea, 9-25km from the eastern coast of Northern Ireland. The project represents one of the largest energy infrastructure investments in Northern Ireland this decade and would be the largest renewable energy generator in Northern Ireland.
With a combined potential capacity of over 1.4 gigawatts, North Channel Wind 1 and 2 will support the delivery of Northern Ireland’s renewable energy targets and transition to a net zero carbon economy. It will help to reduce Northern Ireland’s reliance on imported energy and improve security of supply.
