Global Wind Day 2024

Runa and Elka McEvoy, granddaughters of Andy McCrea, Project Developer for North Channel Wind enjoy a windy day in Ballyholme beach to mark Global Wind Day

North Channel Wind celebrating the benefits that offshore wind power could bring to Northern Ireland as part of a clean energy future.

Northern Ireland has one of the best wind resources in Europe. This vast, natural resource provides a fantastic opportunity to play our part in tackling the climate emergency, and improve our energy security by using clean, local resources rather than relying on fossil fuels from overseas, and in doing so, building a new industry, bringing jobs and investment to our economy.

North Channel Wind’s proposals for floating wind turbines in the Irish Sea have a capacity of around one gigawatt of electricity, which could save over 1.8 million tonnes of carbon emissions every year compared to non-renewables.
